108th Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Southwest Florida

August 25, 2017

Dear Fathers and Brothers:

The One Hundred and Eighth Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Southwest Florida will take

place on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL (301 North

Florida Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801; 863-603-7777).

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and the meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. with a Worship Service. TE

David McWilliams, pastor of Covenant PCA in Lakeland, will preach God’s Word to us during

the Worship Service. There will be a Season of Prayer following the Worship Service.

There is not much business on the Docket for this Stated Meeting of the Presbytery. I expect that

we shall conclude our business by lunchtime. However, Trinity Presbyterian Church would love

to host us for lunch. If you have been to a Trinity lunch before, you know it is worth your while

to stay for lunch! So, please plan on staying for lunch at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

The docket for the meeting, along with various attachments, is available at our Presbytery

website at: http://swfpresbytery.org/news/. Please check the website before coming to the

Presbytery Meeting in order to download all the reports and documents, as they will not be

provided at the meeting.

Please note that one of the documents in the packet for this coming Presbytery Meeting includes

a BCO Amendment from the 45th General Assembly for us to vote upon. The item has to do with

increasing the quorum at a congregation meeting that is voting to withdraw from the

denomination. Also attached in this packet are two other documents, one in support of the BCO

Amendment and the other in opposition to the BCO Amendment. Since we do not have to vote

on this BCO Amendment at the September Presbytery Meeting, my suggestion is to present this

information to the Presbytery so that some discussion about the matter could produce a more

informed vote on the BCO Amendment.

Finally, please pray that the Lord will bless the work of the Presbytery as we meet in September.

Grace and peace,

Freddy Fritz

Stated Clerk, Presbytery of Southwest Florida
