Dear Fathers and Brothers:
The Ninetieth Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Southwest Florida will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Covenant Life Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, FL (8490 McIntosh Road, Sarasota, FL 34238; 941-926-4777).
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and the meeting at 8:30 a.m. with a Worship Service, which will include the observance of the Lord’s Supper. TE David McWilliams, Senior Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL, will deliver a Communion Meditation. At the conclusion of the Lord’s Supper, Memorials will be read for Ruling Elders who have gone to glory this past year. Please send any Memorials to be read to the Stated Clerk by Thursday, February 7, 2013. A Season of Prayer will follow the Worship Service.
Thirty minutes will be allocated for lunch at noon, which will be provided by Covenant Life PCA. The purpose of eating lunch together on site at the church is to promote fellowship among fellow presbyters.
Please note several items. First, there is more than the usual amount of Presbytery business that needs to be accomplished at this Presbytery meeting. I believe there are 8 men who will be examined at this Presbytery meeting: 2 are seeking to come under care; 3 are TEs transferring into our Presbytery; and 3 are seeking to become licentiates. Because the 3 men seeking to be licensed need to preach a sermon to the Presbytery, we plan to have lunch from noon until 12:30 p.m., and then at 12:30 p.m. to divide the Presbytery into three groups so that each group may hear one candidate for licensure preach. Second, we have received a Complaint against the actions taken at our last Presbytery meeting from First PCA, North Port, FL. And third, nominations for Committee of Commissioners, Permanent Committee, Agencies, and so on are due for the upcoming General Assembly.
The docket for the meeting is attached, along with various attachments. Copies of all materials have been sent to churches, Teaching Elders, Ruling Elders, and others for whom the Stated Clerk has email addresses. Please bring your own copy of the docket and all attachments to the Presbytery Meeting, as the Stated Clerk will not provide them at the meeting.
Finally, please pray that the Lord will bless the work of the Presbytery as we meet in February.
Grace and peace,
Freddy Fritz
Stated Clerk, Presbytery of Southwest Florida
